Comment System Update

We have gone back in time my friends.

While it was a good idea to have forum-like comment posting with replies, avatars, and comment RSS feeds all done by the lovely Disqus- – –

Their servers are down. What is this, a Twitter imitation?

What a better way to build community than to break the ability to post comments randomly?

FAIL.

  • You pay a penalty for being an early adopter, but with it come bonuses as well. It’s not like it was down for THAT long, and it was the first serious outage in its history.

Amazon was down too. Are you not ever going to buy anything from them again? :-P

  • I failed to see the bonuses. My loss I guess.

If Amazon was down when I went to buy something, I’d shop somewhere else, which is exactly my point. I don’t want blog comments to be down ever. Also understand, it’s a bit disturbing to me when I had Discus for a total of five days before I saw it down.

I’m not saying I’ll never try improving the blog’s comment system again or anything like that, I’m just saying that I don’t trust Discus on my blog right now.

Punishments to those who be the first to try most products as the bugs get worked out…

On that note, it’s also why the twitter updates disappeared from the page for now. If they had just gone away when Twitter was having problems, then okay. But it was actually breaking the site in some pretty nasty ways. If/when Twitter get’s their act back together, though, I do intend to put their updates back up.
